We lovingly remember Michael J. Lamprill, whose vision and dedication shaped the heart of Gusto Caribbean. His connection with the region began in the 1960s, when he worked across Latin America and the Caribbean, discovering both the challenges and the enormous potential of local industries. Those early years inspired a lifelong commitment to bringing practical, appropriate technology to the people and businesses he believed in.
In the 1970s he began building the foundations of what would become Gusto Caribbean, working with the British Intermediate Technology Group and supporting companies with solutions designed specifically for developing countries. By 1980, he formally established Gusto Caribbean Co., driven by a simple but powerful purpose: to help Caribbean industries thrive with technology that truly fit their needs.
Thanks to his leadership, Gusto became a trusted partner to power plants, hospitals, sugar mills, rum producers, cement factories, cable manufacturers, logging and wood‑processing operations, councils, and airports throughout the region. His belief in long‑term relationships, honest service, and doing things properly still guides every decision we make.
Though Mike is no longer with us, his spirit remains woven into the company he built. We carry forward his values, his curiosity, and his deep respect for the Caribbean communities he served for decades.
We honour him with gratitude and affection, and we continue his work with pride.
